NOVEMBER 2019 BRICS SUMMIT

The BRICS is the acronym fro an association of five major economy's BRAZIL, RUSSIA, INDIA, CHINA and SOUTH AFRICA . the BRIC was formed on 16 June 2009 at that time their were only four members BRAZIL, RUSSIA, INDIA and CHINA.In 2010, South Africa began efforts to join the BRIC grouping, and the process for its formal admission began in August of that year South Africa officially became a member nation on 24 December 2010, after being formally invited by China to join and subsequently accepted by other BRIC countries.

In 2015, the five BRICS countries represent over 3.1 billion people, or about 41% of the world population; four out of five members (excluding South Africa at 24) are in the top 10 of the world by population. As of 2018, these five nations have a combined nominal GDP of US$18.6 trillion, about 23.2% of the gross world product, combined GDP (PPP) of around US$40.55 trillion (32% of World's GDP PPP) and an estimated US$4.46 trillion in combined foreign reserves.Overall the BRICS are forecaster to expand 4.6% in 2016, from an estimated growth of 3.9% in 2015. The World Bank expected BRICS growth to increase to 5.3% in 2017. The BRICS have received both praise and criticism from numerous commentators.

The main focus of the BRICS countries were on the followings -

economic and financial corporation 
1. New Development Banks (NDB)
2. Development
3. Health
4. Science technology and innovation 
5. Contingent reserve arrangement (CRA)
6. Security
7. Business

And now on 13th to 14th of November 2019  the 11th BRICS summit were held on BRAZIL.

The moto of 11th BRICS summit 2019 is "ECONOMIC GROWTH FOR INNOVATIVE FUTURE".

Majuli , Assam -the largest river island on earth

Majuli, in upper Assam region is one and only river island on earth on the mighty river Bharmaputra, is one of the  most diversified wildlife region in India. Elephant, Deers, Rabbits, snakes, and buffaloes and different kinds of birds make it the largest river island for wild-living.

It had an area of 880 square kilometres (340 sq mi) at the beginning of the 20th century, but having lost significantly to erosion it covers 352 square kilometres (136 sq mi) as at 2014. Majuli has shrunk as the river surrounding it has grown. Majuli is currently listed as the world's largest river island in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Majuli is a small river island. There are no taxis, buses or autos available for commuting around Majuli. Tourists have to depend upon boats to explore the island and the river. For moving around within the island, one can rent bicycles or simply stroll down.

By Air-
There are regular flights operating from Guwahati and other eastern and north-eastern cities to reach Jorhat Airport, also known as Rowriah Airport. From Jorhat, tourists can take a bus or hire a taxi to reach Neemati Ghat located 14 km from Jorhat. From Neemati Ghat there are ferry services which tourists can avail to reach Majuli. There are two ferry rides from Neemati Ghat to Majuli each day. The timings are 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.

By Train-
There are no railway stations in Majuli. To reach Majuli by train, tourists will have to take trains from Guwahati to reach Jorhat, the nearest railhead to Majuli. From Jorhat, buses and taxis will transport tourists to Neemati Ghat where ferries are available for a ride to Majuli.

By Road-
As a river island, Majuli is not connected by roadways to any major cities or towns. Hence buses or taxis cannot ferry tourists to the little island. One can reach Jorhat by road. From Guwahati, a 7 hour bus ride will transport tourists to Jorhat. Likewise, passengers can also hire a private taxi to reach Jorhat. From here however, they will have to rely on ferries to reach Majuli.
